Ludo is a classic board game for 2-4 players, based on an old Indian game called Pachisi. It is simple and fast-paced. Easy to learn for children and adults.
Each player has four tokens and tries to move them from their home base into the center area. The gameplay is partly based on luck (rolling a dice) and partly on simple strategy choices.
Press the start button on the loading screen:
Select game mode: Click on "Play against the computer" to play against the built-in robot players. Click on "Play with friends" to play Ludo with other people, taking turns on the device.
Play against the Ludo computer: If you choose to play against the computer, you can select how many Ludo playing robots (1, 2 or 3) you want to take on in the match. There are three robots available; Robby, Clanky and Bongo. They play Ludo for a living, but are known to make mistakes quite often.
Play with friends: Select how many players to join in the match.
At the start of the game, the players get 4 tokens (game pieces) placed in their home base. The color of the home base (Blue, yellow, red or green) matches the token color.
The aim of the game is to move your tokens out of the base, around the board, and then into your "home lane" before entering your goal triangle in the center of the board.
The players take turns rolling the dice, and select one of their tokens to move as indicated by the dice value.
The first player who successfully moves all 4 tokens into the triangle, wins first place.
The image below illustrates the path for the blue player, as an example:
Here are some smart Ludo tactics:
Bring all your tokens out of the base early, in stead of just racing a single token around the board.
Spread your tokens around the board. If they are close together and not stacked, an opponent can shut down your game quickly.
Count out the danger zone after the next turn. If an opponent token is 1-6 places behind, you are in danger.
Move the token that has less threats hanging over it while using safe squares as temporary shelters for tokens in danger, waiting for a safe move opportunity
When rolling a 6, it can often be more valuable to capture an opponent or move a forward token to safety rather than moving a token from the home base.
As a general rule of thumb, follow this priority when playing: 1.Capture, 2.Safety, 3.Move tokens out of base, 4.Pure forward movement.
Good luck, and have fun!
